Per IWA management, Jackson Kelly's IWA Heavyweight Title reign has been suspended.
As of October 8, 2023 - IWA Heavyweight Champion Jackson Kelly has his title reign paused by IWA management due to his threatening of not defending the championship.
The title suspension comes due to Kelly reneging on the agreement with IWA Director Robert Oxley where he would only defend the title if he had lost a non-title match first. Kelly lost a non-title match to Jimmy Townsend on August 5th, 2023 and did not sign the contract for the championship match on October 14th.
Jackson Kelly subsequent threatening not to come to the IWA 25 Year Anniversary event due to his desire to hold the championship longer than 1000 days has left IWA management no choice.
Kelly's title reign is now paused at 904 days, which ties the record for the longest reign in history. The suspension will be lifted if Jackson Kelly defends, and retains the Heavyweight Title against Jimmy Townsend. Until then, any days from today do not count towards his title reign as he is no longer recognised as the IWA Heavyweight Champion.
IWA management is hopeful that Jackson Kelly will be at St. John's Park Bowling Club on October 14th for IWA - 25 Year Anniversary to defend the IWA Heavyweight Championship against Jimmy Townsend. Kelly's reign can only officially continue AFTER a successful title defence against top contender, the Wandering Soul, Jimmy Townsend.
